Led by professor Roel Vertegaal, a research team at the Human Media Lab of Canada’s Queen’s University has created a fascinating 360-degree display called the Telepod. It consists of a human-being-sized acrylic cylinder, six Microsoft Kinect sensors and a 3D projector, and as you’ll see in the video below, affords the viewer an experience similar to interacting with a hologram. The cylinder displays a live, three-dimensional image of the person with whom you’re interacting, and you can circumnavigate the cylinder to get a completely wraparound view.
The research team foresees at least two applications of the technology. The first, called TeleHuman, is basic teleconferencing. The second application, called BodiPod, could revolutionize the medical industry. It provides the viewer with a “peelable” X-ray scan of the subject’s body, meaning a patient on one continent could receive a diagnosis from a specialist on another (assuming the resolution was high enough). “Happy” was the theme we were given by the organizers for this year’s F5 Re:Play Fest ( f5fest.com ), held in April in NYC, to create this edition’s pieces, probably the hardest thing to convey in any artistic expression.
After a good deal of introspection, and teaming up with awesome motion graphics artist Gerardo del Hierro, we decided that happy wasn’t happy for Physalia unless pliers, microchips and a bit of soldering were involved,
and with this idea we resolved to create the happiest machine Physalia has built to date.

wurde eine interaktive Galeriewand im öffentlich zugänglichen Foyer installiert.
In jeder der 60 Etagen sind mehrere Werke von jeweils einem Künstler ausgestellt, darunter Tobias Rehberger, Neo Rauch und Shilpa Gupta.
Dieses Etagenkonzept greift die ArtWall auf: 60 Bildschirme sind zu einer 5 x 2,40 Meter großen Medienwand angeordnet.

Bestehend aus 930 fluorescent lampen die unter Plexiglas an eine Hausfassade angebracht wurden. Die Lampen sind individuell steuerbar. Es können hier Bilder und Animationen dank 20fps gezeigt werden.
This building projection was to promote the new movie “The Tourist” starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. The Joule Hotel in downtown Dallas hosted a party with this 3D architectural mapping projection art show, it was projected on the Praetorian Building at 1607 Main Street.
